Congratulations! In front of your eyes is the first ever Signal online-only editorial, along with the rest of the first online-only edition.
Come Fall semester, we at The Signal hope to continue the trend of directing readers toward our Web site. Our web team will be working diligently over the summer to develop a new site that will lend itself to a 24-hour news cycle and breaking news. If all goes as planned, we hope to start off next semester bringing you videos and photo slideshows, immediate breaking news and Twitter updates.
With the journalism industry rapidly moving toward the Web and our audience consisting mainly of plugged-in College students, it seems to be a win-win that The Signal staff look ahead to an Internet focus in our news-gathering.
In the meantime, we welcome your feedback and encourage suggestions for how to most effectively bring you the campus news, features, entertainment and sports information that we hope you value.
Feel free to get in touch with us over the summer at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know what you thought of our online issue. And please keep us in mind at the beginning of next semester when you’re planning your schedule — we can always use writers and photographers but now, we’ll be looking for videographers, bloggers and generally enthusiastic people with great ideas for bringing The Signal to your computer screens.
Have a great summer!
