Pasternack elected SGA president

People Over Politics won the top spot in the elections for next year’s Student Government Association (SGA) when Eric Pasternack defeated S. Lee Whitesell for the presidency. People Over Politics and its opponent Real Leadership each got three of the executive board seats.

Pasternack got 560 votes, compared to Whitesell’s 480. “Now that the elections are over, it is important for everyone to place the drama of the elections in the past,” Pasternack said.

Real Leadership candidate Christine Cullen was elected executive vice president. Jenna Klubnick, also with Real Leadership, beat Mike Levy by seven votes for the spot of alternate student trustee.

“Thank you to everyone who voted for me, I will not let you down,” Klubnick said. She said she has only good things to say about her opponent and hopes he will run for a different position and join SGA next year.

Real Leadership’s Steven Link was elected vice president of Academic Affairs, and People over Politics candidate Michael Strom was voted vice president of legal and governmental affairs. Chris Rindosh beat Drew Rausa for the spot of vice president of Student Services. Kamaria Byrd was elected vice president of Equity and Diversity, while Stefanie Maffa will be the vice president of Community Relations.

“I am confident that the new members of the SGA executive board will be able to put former alliances in the past and will be able to work together to solve the needs of the students of (the College),” Pasternack said.
